There's a match this weekend, but given recent events, I'm not so sure that I'm looking forward to it. It's also against Ravenclaw so that will be interesting in and of itself. I've been meaning to ask Alice if she'll be playing; we've been teasing each other for months about this game and it'd be a let-down if she didn't play. You are, aren't you, love?

I received an owl this morning at breakfast from the Ministry. It seems they're interested in allowing me to train to be an auror so long as I get an E or better on the N.E.W.T.s, particularly in defense and charms. I'm not sure how mum's going to take the news. She's always wanted me to do what dad did and have a desk job at the ministry.

So that's what this Dark Mark is. I imagined it to be something different, but it certainly gets its point across. It lit up the entire pitch and most of the outskirts of the forbidden forest. I'm a bit cut up from running in there, but nothing that couldn't be healed with the flick of a wand.

Managed to get myself a detention though. McGonagall says it'll teach me to run into the forest at night when something's obviously wrong. But really, we were just making sure everything was fine and to see if we could catch the person who cast it.
